As per records, NFR conducts this recruitment after almost 2 years and the most recent one is announced vide Employment Notice No.01/2012(Gr-D) in September 2012. Railway Recruitment 2012 - Eligibility Criteria for NFR Group D Jobs


  • Age Limit: The prescribed upper age limit is 36 years for OBC category and 38 years for SC/ST applicants as on 1st January 2013. Age relaxation is available for certain categories except for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and applying against unreserved posts.
  • Educational Qualification: Any candidate who is passed in Class 10 or possess qualification of ITI or other equivalent qualification is eligible to apply subject to the condition that he/she has passed in the qualifying examination from any recognized board or institute.
  • Other Conditions: Applications of candidates which are received within the closing date will only be eligible for being considered. Moreover, those applications which do not follow the guidelines as mentioned in the notification will also be summarily rejected.

How to apply for Northeast Frontier Railway Group D Recruitment?

Applicants who satisfy the above requirements may apply in prescribed format as included in the Annexure VI of the Employment Notification. This should be printed on single side in a standard A4 size paper and all fields in the said form should be filled-up with relevant and accurate data using Black Ball Pen only. One can only use English/Hindi language to fillup the NF Railway Recruitment Application Form and include his/her signature & date. The envelope carrying the application form should be superscribed as '"Applications for Gr. D posts, Northeast Frontier Railway'.

The fee to be paid for applying to this Group D post in NFR is Rs.40/- only and the same is applicable for candidates belonging to OBC and Unreserved candidates only. Rest of the categories are exempted from paying this application fee. The mode of payment allowed is through Indian Postal Order (IPO) only which can be obtained from Post Offices. The IPO should be drawn in favor of FA&CAO, N.F. Railway payable at GPO, Guwahati. This should be enclosed along with the duly filled-in application form and other enclosures like passport size photograph, attested copies of certificates in support of caste and educational qualifications. A written examination followed by a Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted as part of selection procedure followed by a Medical Examination of shortlisted candidates thereafter. No interview shall be conducted and selection will be made on the basis of merit. The written test will include 150 MCQ objective type questions with exam duration of 2 hours. Negative markings will be applicable for wrong answers and 1/3rd marks will be deducted for the same. The PET will be of qualifying nature and is mandatory for selection. Candidates will be asked to run a distance of 1500 meters in 6 mins in case of male and 400 meters in 3 minutes in case of female candidates to qualify. Later, verification of original documents will be done followed by medical examination of shortlisted candidates.
