SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2012 - Syllabus, Application Form & Challan

Staff Selection Commission has announced the examination details for Stenographer recruitment under Grade C & D. It will be conducting the Combined All India Open Examination for a number of vacancies and has accordingly advertised the detailed insight of the recruitment process. However, it is not known as to how many posts are offered as there is no mention about it in the official notification that was published recently.

First of all, the SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2012 is scheduled to be held on 27th July 2012 and the last date for submission of application form is 25th May 2012 up to 05:00 PM except few places like Northeastern States, J & K etc. where the closing date is 01-06-2012 which can be seen from the official advertisement enclosed along with this article. Even though the number of posts are not confirmed till now, it is however informed that the selected stenographers under Grade C will be engaged mostly in Delhi at Central Government departments and ministries. In case of Group D vacancies, they are further sub divided into a couple of categories named X and Y which determines where the candidates will be placed after getting selected. However, All India Service Liability (AISL) would still apply to each selected candidate and they may be asked to serve in the offices or departments located anywhere in the country. Lets now have a look at the eligibility criteria.

Who is eligible to apply for SSC Recruitment 2012 for Stenographers?

Any Indian citizen or subject of few allowed countries belonging to the age range of 18 to 27 years as on 1st August 2012 will be able to apply for the Combined All India Open Examination 2012 to be conducted by the commission for recruitment to the post of Stenographers. Relaxation in upper age limit is permissible to various category of applicants and can be availed as per the rules which can be found in the official notification. In terms of educational qualification, the applicant has to be 12th standard passed or equivalent from a recognized board/university.

Written Examination & Syllabus of SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2012

Staff Selection Commission will be conducting an Objective type (MCQ) Written Examination and a skill test in Stenography as part of selection process. There will be negative markings for each wrong answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for the same. This exam will be held in a number of test centres throughout the country and the detailed list of such centres can be seen from the official notification. On qualifying the written examination, the candidates will be asked to take a Skill (Stenography) test and dictation at varying speed will be given based on the Grade of the post and it must be transcribed in computer within the time frame as detailed in the following table:-

SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2012 - How to apply and pay fees?

There is both online and offline modes of application submission and candidates can opt for any one of them as per their convenience. Using the online application form is the most preferred method but the submission by post also works fine. In either case, there is a prescribed format provided by the commission in Annexure-I for offline application and the instructions can be found in Annexure - II (A & B) which covers both the said modes. A fee of Rs.100/- only is applicable for all applicants except those belonging to the categories of SC, ST, PH, Ex-serviceman and women candidates. If you are intending to apply online, then you can pay the fee by SBI Netbanking or pay in cash by using the system generated SBI Challan followed by Part II registration. The Part I registration is open till 23rd May 2012 and Part II registration will close on 25th May 2012 at 05:00 PM. On the other hand, candidates interested in offline application can pay the fee through Central Recruitment Fee Stamps(CRFS) only which can be obtained from Post Offices and no other alternative payment mode is available.
