Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has implemented a new application procedure to simplify and ease the process of applying to the Government Jobs available through the TNPSC Examination from time to time. It has launched an One Time Registration System (OTRS) which will allow the interested candidates to apply for all the jobs offered through the commission by registering only once. Apart from providing convenience to the applicants, it is also aimed at reducing the time, efforts and cost that are associated with processing the applications each time a new recruitment is to be held in the state. In this regard, it can also be mentioned here that the commission has recently listed out the exam schedule for the calendar year 2012-13 with the tentative dates of the notification, examinations, results and interview or Counseling. As per the schedule made available, recruitment will be held for around 21 times in the year to fillup more than 8000 vacancies. With the introduction of the One Time Registration System for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, the applicants will be able to register with all their particulars online and they will be charged Rs.50/- as fee which will remain valid for 5 years. It can be paid online through netbanking, credit/debit cards or otherwise in the Post Offices and Indian Bank branches. Upon successful registration, the candidates will be provided their login credentials consisting of Unique ID and Password which will be delivered to them via Email or SMS. The Unique ID would serve as the Registration Number and has to be mentioned in all the applications submitted to the commission. Facilitation centres will also be provided in different locations including the premises of Post Offices and Indian Banks where TNPSC forms were earlier issued. Interested candidates will be able to apply for the any available recruitment online through these facilitation centres without any cost. These centre which will be equipped with all essential equipment like internet connected computers, printer/scanners etc will be helpful specially for the applicants from rural locations where internet connectivity is not easily accessible.
The online mode of registration will become mandatory from mid-April onward and all employment notifications issued thereafter will follow this new method. This system is believed to be better than the earlier mode of applying through OMR applications as it will be a less tedious process and the registrant using the OTRS will receive acknowledgement of successful registration within seconds of submitting the form. Moreover candidates will have to pay the registration fee only once for a stretch of 5 years and they can use the unique identity for all future applications within that period.
The One Time Registration System along with Online Application Facility is definitely a very good move by the commission which will go a long way ahead in improving the process to apply for government job. The commission has also ensured high level of security for the entry of records and changes made to them and provision has been made to certify the security aspects from ISMS. These changes which are now available through the revamped website of the commission is already seen to be widely acclaimed by the people and with a number of vacancies that are queuing up for the new calendar year, these new features will indeed be very helpful for both the applicants and the commission alike.
